Laura, Director of Operations
Laura graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1984 with a BA. After a thirteen-year career in the computer industry, it was time for a change and she joined the team on moving day into Sabiston Heritage house, November 1998. Laura enjoys the many hats she must wear as office manager and enjoys learning new aspects of the dental industry. In her spare time she plays golf, baseball and is creative with her stained glass.
Jennifer, Certified Dental Assistant, Level II
Jennifer works for Dr. Brown as a Level II Dental Assistant. She graduated in 1987 as a certified dental assistant upgraded to a Level II in 1995. She enjoys learning the new technology in Dr. Brown's practice and the ability to remain current. She particularly enjoys mastering new procedures such as the CEREC 3D technology. Jennifer has three children who keep her busy with hockey and horse back riding. She has a love of pets and owns a horse, cat, hamster and a turtle.
Christina, Certified Dental Assistant, Level II
Christina has been a Certified Dental Assistant since 1995. After completing two years of study at York University in psychology, she then attended Seneca College to complete the Dental Assisting Program. In 2000, Christina went to the Medix School in London, Ontario where she acquired her Level II status. Outside My Dental Home, she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter and son. Together they enjoy the outdoors, boating and fishing. Christina is a Maple Leaf fan and loves to spend time with family, friends, especially children. Christina's many years of dental experience, along with her love of people, helps to provide a comfortable, friendly environment for her patients.
Valerie, Certified Dental Assistant
Valerie graduated as a Certified Dental Assistant in 1976. During her years of experience, Valerie has continued to upgrade her skills with continued education and by working with dental consulting firms. Valerie's work experience has included chairside assistant, receptionist, and practice management. Valerie's knowledge of the dental profession allows her to assist our clients in understanding their dental needs and make informed dental decisions. In her time away from My Dental Home, Valerie enjoys the company of her husband and two sons, the world of antiques and collecting, and of course shopping.
Ron, Restorative Dental Hygienist
Ron joined the team in 1993 as a Dental Hygienist. He returned to school to upgrade his skills as a Restorative Dental Hygienist. He is currently working alongside Dr. Brown utilizing his restorative skills. He attends continuing education courses to maintain standards in patient care. He balances his busy schedule with his wife and two sons. He is another male voice, helping to support Dr. Brown in a sea of females!
Teena, Dental Hygienist
Teena, a dental hygiene graduate from Seneca College, is proud to be part of My Dental Home within the community of Markham. She has actively nurtured this practice and delights in the growth and technological development at My Dental Home. She has a passion for the prevention and treatment of periodontal disease. Teena has had the opportunity to work for a periodontist (gum disease specialist) and a paedondontist (specializing in dentistry for children). She is also the wife of Dr. Kevin Brown and the mother of four active children, Amy, Colin, Lukas and Emmalee. Teena enjoys music, water sports, skiing, kayaking, kickboxing and spending time in the Haliburton Highlands.
Kerri, Dental Hygienist
Kerri began her dental career as Dr. Brown's dental assistant. After graduating from West Virginia in 1992, she rejoined the team as a Dental Hygienist. She enjoys the unique homelike environment at My Dental Home. When Kerri is not at the office she is at home with her husband, Jeff and two children, Rachel and Jacob. In her free time she enjoys volunteering at her children's school and scrap booking with friends.
Margit, Dental Hygienist
Margit is a graduate of University of Guelph with a B.A. in Psychology. She supported herself through University working in a dental office and switched professions as a result of her experiences. She enjoys helping people gain a better understanding of their dental condition particularly in the treatment and prevention of periodontal disease. After working 20 years in the dental profession, she continues to upgrade herself by attending continuing education seminars, completing online courses and being a member in several Dental Associations. Margit enjoys reading anything she can get her hands on and spicy vegetarian Indian cuisine.
Louise, Dental Hygienist
Louise, a dental hygiene graduate from Georgian College has been in hygiene for 25+ years. She has been a resident of Markham since 2005. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry, especially conversing with, and getting to know her patients. She has a gentle yet thorough touch, and continues to attend courses to expand her expertise in various dental and health related topics. Outside of dental hygiene, she also has her own counseling business called NutritionallyFit.ca. Her interests include spending time with her husband and three grown children, as well as fitness, playing bass and reading.
Kim, Dental Hygienist
Kim began her Dental Career at the age of 16 assisting dentists after school. She enjoyed it so much she went onto receive her Dental Assisting Certificate and worked as a Dental Assistant for a year. Following this, Kim attended Niagara College and obtained her Dental Hygiene diploma. In the past, as a Dental Hygienist Kim has worked in general dental practices including Dr. Brown’s office. She continued to expand her skills and knowledge by working in a periodontal specialty practice for 5 years. Kim is excited to be a team member at My Dental Home where the emphasis is on providing comprehensive dental care. Kim spends her free time with her husband Jim and daughter Kara. She enjoys traveling, reading and running with her dog Joe.
Jorge, Dental Hygienist
Jorge is enthusiastic about being involved in the dental field ever since he first started dental assisting in high school. From there, he went through 4 years at York University and earned a B.Sc. in Biology. Once having completed his Bachelor degree, Jorge successfully completed the Dental Hygiene program at Oxford College, also earning Valedictorian honours along the way. Now a happy member of the team, Jorge is very excited to work with Dr. Brown and Associates at My Dental Home, in order to continue to give excellent client care. In his spare time, Jorge is a big “movie buff” and enjoys playing guitar (or at least trying to play), watching his favourite soccer teams play, and spending time with his fiancé.
Amber, Dental Hygienist
Amber has been a patient herself at My Dental Home for many years and her dental experiences encouraged her to study dental hygiene. She graduated from Aurora Dental College in 2009 and has accepted a position working with her favourite dental team. She enjoys reading, live comedy shows and board games.
Patricia, Dental Hygienist
Patricia is excited to join the team at My Dental Home. She began her career as a Cooperative Education Student, learning the roles of a Dental Assistant and the following year a Dental Hygienist. Following this, she attended Aplus Institute where she graduated as a Registered Dental Hygienist. She graduated the Dental Hygiene Program as Valedictorian, and earned the Character, Perseverance & Effort award. Patricia works at MyDental Home as both a Dental Hygienist and Clinic Coordinator. Patricia enjoys spending time with her friends & family, shopping & furthering her knowledge of the dental field, with future plans to become a Restorative Dental Hygienist.
Jeanie, Treatment Coordinator
Jeanie is thrilled to be an integral part of the My Dental Home team. She joined the team after many years in the dental profession. Her dental background includes extensive training at the Los Vegas institute for Advanced Dental Studies.. She has also volunteered for charitable dental service internationally. Jeanie is happy to answer any of your dental questions. Jeanie enjoys white water rafting, sky diving and healthy living.
Linda, Scheduling Coordinator
Linda has been involved in dental office administration since 1987. She updates her skills by attending continuing education seminars, such as, Invisalign, Implants, Cerec3 and Periodontal Disease Management. Prior to working in the dental field, Linda was employed as a secretary in Customer Relations & Human Resources departments for large corporations. She enjoys the friendly professional manner at My Dental Home. Linda has a son and enjoys the outdoors including golfing and gardening.
Beata, Scheduling Coordinator
Beata arrived from Poland in 1990. She attended Career Canada College for dental assisting in 1991 and is HARP certified. Beata has taken many continuing education coursess in the dental field. She enjoys learning new skills, travelling, yoga and reading.
Carlie, Scheduling Coordinator
Carlie has been a certified dental assistant for eight years. Over the years she has taken a specific interest in dental hygiene. Carlie followed her interests and graduated as a Dental Hygienist last year. She enjoys visiting her cousin's salon to have her hair styled. Her new found hobbies are golfing and snow boarding and spending time with her family and friends.
