Laura graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1984 with a BA. After a thirteen-year career in the computer industry, it was time for a change and she joined the team on moving day into Sabiston Heritage House, November 1998. Laura enjoys the many hats she must wear as office manager and enjoys learning new aspects of the dental industry. In her spare time she plays golf, baseball and is creative with photography.
Ron joined the team in 1993 as a Dental Hygienist. He returned to school to upgrade his skills as a Restorative Dental Hygienist. He is currently working alongside Dr. Brown utilizing his restorative skills. He attends continuing education courses to maintain standards in patient care. He balances his busy schedule with his wife, two sons and his dog. He is another male voice, helping to support Dr. Brown in a sea of females! He has recently taken up martial arts in order to defend himself from the ladies at work!
Teena, a dental hygiene graduate from Seneca College, is proud to be part of MyDentalHome within the community of Markham. She has actively nurtured this practice and delights in the growth and technological development at MyDentalHome. She has a passion for the prevention and treatment of periodontal disease. Teena has had the opportunity to work for a periodontist (gum disease specialist) and a paedondontist (specializing in dentistry for children). Teena has received her Dental Hygiene Implant Certificate from the Association of Dental Implant Auxiliaries at the International Congress of Dental Implantology. She is also the wife of Dr. Kevin Brown and the mother of four active children, Amy, Colin, Lukas and Emmalee. Teena enjoys dragon boating, golf, water sports, skiing, kayaking, kickboxing and spending time in the Haliburton Highlands.
Kerri began her dental career as an assistant for Dr. Brown but always knew that she would return to school to pursue Dental Hygiene. After graduating from West Liberty University in West Virginia, she rejoined the MyDentalHome team as a Dental Hygienist. With over 20 years of experience she has seen many changes in dentistry, from advancements in treating periodontal (gum) disease, Invisalign braces and placement of dental implants. Her commitment to this practice, continuing education and her membership with different dental associations shows her dedication to the field of dental hygiene. She feels so blessed to be able to be a small part of her patients’ lives for so long. When not in the office Kerri spends time at home with her husband Jeff and her children Rachel and Jacob.
Margit is a graduate of University of Guelph with a B.A. in Psychology. She supported herself through University working in a dental office and switched professions as a result of her experiences. She enjoys helping people gain a better understanding of their dental condition particularly in the treatment and prevention of periodontal disease. After working 20 years in the dental profession, she continues to upgrade herself by attending continuing education seminars, completing online courses and being a member in several Dental Associations. Margit enjoys reading anything she can get her hands on and spicy vegetarian Indian cuisine.
Louise, a dental hygiene graduate from Georgian College has been in hygiene for 25+ years. She has been a resident of Markham since 2005. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry, especially conversing with, and getting to know her patients. She has a gentle yet thorough touch, and continues to attend courses to expand her expertise in various dental and health related topics. Outside of dental hygiene, she also has her own consulting business called NutritionallyFit.ca. Her interests include spending time with her husband and three grown children, as well as fitness, triathlons and reading.
Kim began her Dental Career at the age of 16 assisting dentists after school. She enjoyed it so much she went onto receive her Dental Assisting Certificate and worked as a Dental Assistant for a year. Following this, Kim attended Niagara College and obtained her Dental Hygiene diploma. In the past, as a Dental Hygienist, Kim has worked in general dental practices including Dr. Brown’s office. She continued to expand her skills and knowledge by working in a periodontal specialty practice for 5 years. She enjoys volunteering with local dental projects, travelling, cooking, reading and running with her dogs.
Valerie graduated as a Certified Dental Assistant in 1976. During her years of experience, Valerie has continued to upgrade her skills with continued education and by working with dental consulting firms. Valerie's work experience has included chairside assistant, receptionist, and practice management. Valerie's knowledge of the dental profession allows her to assist our clients in understanding their dental needs and make informed dental decisions. Valerie is a certified treatment coordinator with the Association of Dental Implant Auxiliaries at the International Congress of Dental Implantology. In her time away from MyDentalHome, Valerie enjoys the company of family. When she is not with her 3 grandchildren, Valerie enjoys collecting antiques, and of course shopping.
Jennifer works for Dr. Brown as a Level II Dental Assistant. She graduated in 1987 as a certified dental assistant upgraded to a Level II in 1995. She enjoys learning the new technology in Dr. Brown's practice and the ability to remain current. She particularly enjoys mastering new procedures such as the CEREC 3D technology. Jennifer has two children and a grandson. She has a love of pets and owns two horses. You can find Jen at the barn riding or with her family.
Evelyn has been at My Dental Home since February 2017. She has a wealth of experience dental assisting for over 25 years. She has her Level II Certification. When not at the dental office she enjoys swimming, cooking and spending time with her family. She looks forward to vacationing with family in the Philippines. She enjoys dental assisting and looks forward to seeing you at the office.
As well as being a recent addition to the My Dental Home team, Karine is also a recent dental hygiene graduate from Ottawa. She moved to Toronto to pursue dentistry in which she has found her passion, throughout her studies. While completing her Biology undergrad at York University, she likes to find new trails to roller blade in the summer and different slopes to go ski during the winter time. Speaking both French and English fluently, Karine actively seeks improvements to her knowledge and skills by attending seminars and courses in either language. Besides, she finds a deep pleasure volunteering in the community in order to give priceless motivation to achieve great oral health.
Beata was born and raised in Poland. Before coming to Canada, she studied Law and then lived in Greece for over 3 years. After arriving in Canada, Beata attended Career Canada College for Dental Assisting and is HARP certified. She joined our team in 2011. Beata has taken many continuing education courses in the dental field because she always enjoys learning new skills. Beata has 2 sons and has a passion for yoga. She also enjoys travelling and reading.
Paige joined the My Dental Home Team since March 2018. A graduate of Durham College, she has been a practicing Dental Hygienist for 25+ years, most of which were spent working in a Periodontal Specialty Practice. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry, especially helping patients by sharing her knowledge and skills in the prevention and management of periodontal disease. Paige enjoys continuing her education, keeping current and is a member of several Dental Associations. Much of her spare time is spent with her husband, two daughters, the family dog and visiting family on The Bruce Peninsula.
Melanie graduated from the University of Toronto with a BA honours. She worked in the healthcare field for a few years before making the decision to move on to dentistry. Melanie loves socializing with her coworkers and interacting with the patients at My Dental Home. Melanie loves to travel and she spends most of her spare time with her family and two dogs.
Caitlin recently joined our team at My Dental Home after gaining experience in health clinics around Markham. Originally from Australia, Caitlin first came to Canada in 2010 to pursue her love for snowboarding, and the active lifestyle that is inspired by the Rocky Mountains. Caitlin has a love for learning, friends, family and all things outdoors. She hopes to eventually study in the field of Health Science in Toronto.
Lisa is a certified dental assistant level II and works with Dr. Brown and Ron. She enjoys working with people and adores the community and atmosphere at My Dental Home. It is a pleasure to see patients finish their appointments with a smile. Lisa has two children and is a dedicated yoga practitioner. She loves to spend her time with family, create art and poetry and read.
