Meet the Team
Restorative Dental Hygienist
Ron joined the team in 1993 as a Dental Hygienist. He returned to school to upgrade his skills as a Restorative Dental Hygienist. He is currently working alongside Dr. Brown utilizing his restorative skills. He attends continuing education courses to maintain standards in patient care. He balances his busy schedule with his wife, two sons and his dog. He is another male voice, helping to support Dr. Brown in a sea of females! He has recently been awarded his black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and title of Professor after over a decade of practice. Unfortunately, this has not deterred the ladies from beating him up!
Director of Operations
Laura graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1984 with a BA. After a thirteen-year career in the computer industry, it was time for a change and she joined the team on moving day into Sabiston Heritage House, November 1998. Laura enjoys the many hats she must wear as office manager and enjoys learning new aspects of the dental industry. In her spare time she plays golf, baseball and is creative with photography.
Certified Dental Assistant
Valerie graduated as a Certified Dental Assistant in 1976. During her years of experience, Valerie has continued to upgrade her skills with continued education and by working with dental consulting firms. Valerie’s work experience has included chairside assistant, receptionist, and practice management. Valerie’s knowledge of the dental profession allows her to assist our clients in understanding their dental needs and make informed dental decisions. Valerie is a certified treatment coordinator with the Association of Dental Implant Auxiliaries at the International Congress of Dental Implantology. In her time away from MyDentalHome, Valerie enjoys the company of family. When she is not with her grandchildren, Valerie enjoys collecting antiques, and of course shopping.
Teena, a dental hygiene graduate from Seneca College, is proud to be part of MyDentalHome within the community of Markham. She has actively nurtured this practice and delights in the growth and technological development at MyDentalHome. She has a passion for the prevention and treatment of periodontal disease. Teena has had the opportunity to work for a periodontist (gum disease specialist) and a paedondontist (specializing in dentistry for children). Teena has received her Dental Hygiene Implant Certificate from the Association of Dental Implant Auxiliaries at the International Congress of Dental Implantology. She is also the wife of Dr. Kevin Brown and the mother of four grown children, Amy, Colin, Lukas and Emmalee. Teena enjoys dragon boating, golf, water sports, skiing, kayaking, kickboxing and spending time in the Haliburton Highlands.
Margit is a graduate of University of Guelph with a B.A. in Psychology. She supported herself through University working in a dental office and switched professions as a result of her experiences. She enjoys helping people gain a better understanding of their dental condition particularly in the treatment and prevention of periodontal disease. After working 20 years in the dental profession, she continues to upgrade herself by attending continuing education seminars, completing online courses and being a member in several Dental Associations. Margit enjoys reading anything she can get her hands on and spicy vegetarian Indian cuisine.
Certified Dental Assistant, Level II
Jennifer works for Dr. Brown as a Level II Dental Assistant. She graduated in 1987 as a certified dental assistant upgraded to a Level II in 1995. She enjoys learning the new technology in Dr. Brown’s practice and the ability to remain current. She particularly enjoys mastering new procedures such as the CEREC 3D technology. Jennifer has two children and a grandson. She has a love of pets and owns two horses. You can find Jen at the barn riding or with her family.
Beata was born and raised in Poland. Before coming to Canada, she studied Law and then lived in Greece for over 3 years. After arriving in Canada, Beata attended Career Canada College for Dental Assisting and is HARP certified. She joined our team in 2011. Beata has taken many continuing education courses in the dental field because she always enjoys learning new skills. Beata has 2 sons and has a passion for yoga. She also enjoys travelling and reading.
Paige joined the My Dental Home Team since March 2018. A graduate of Durham College, she has been a practicing Dental Hygienist for 25+ years, most of which were spent working in a Periodontal Specialty Practice. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry, especially helping patients by sharing her knowledge and skills in the prevention and management of periodontal disease. Paige enjoys continuing her education, keeping current and is a member of several Dental Associations. Much of her spare time is spent with her husband, two daughters, the family dog and visiting family on The Bruce Peninsula.
Certified Dental Assistant
Nadia graduated in 2012 with her Level II Dental Assisting. She enjoys working with new dental equipment in a busy office, like My Dental Home. She is enjoying the transition between the 2 offices of Markham Village Dental and My Dental Home. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Hafiza graduated from York University with a Biology Honors. Also, she received an accounting diploma from Russia. She always wanted to work in healthcare or dental field, but she chose dentistry. She has more than 5 years experience working in dental office. She loves traveling, sightseeing, and reading science books. Her favorite sports are basketball and volleyball. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family.
Tahira graduated in 2010 from Durham College. She is a certified Dental Receptionist and Administrator. She has worked in a dental office since then. She enjoys helping you book your appointments and would be pleased to help you with any questions about your dental health.
Restorative Dental Hygienist
Cathy has enjoyed being a dental hygienist since 2002, graduating from Algonquin College and continued her education by taking the Restorative Dental Hygiene program, she was also a clinical instructor for the Dental Assistant program at Algonquin College.
She takes great pride in being part of her patients and their family’s lives, watching them grow through the milestones all the while improving and maintaining their oral health. When not in the office Cathy loves spending time with her two young boys, husband and dog Mango. She enjoys travelling, trying new foods and keeping active.
